KL-Singapore route

Under a newly liberalised air pact, the Malaysia-Singapore Air Services Agreement had agreed to open the route to low-cost carriers which has been dominated by Singapore Airlines Ltd (SIA) and Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS).

Singapore’s Transport Ministry awarded Jetstar Asia and Tiger Airways the right to operate daily flights to KL beginning Feb 1, with AirAsia also serving on one of the most lucrative routes in the region due to frequent business travels between the two countries.

The air pact with Australia allows carriers such as Qantas Airways, Jetstar Australia and Virgin Blue to carry passengers between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur under a condition where its point of origin has to be in Australia upon request from any Australian carriers
