Jawatankuasa Bersama Perdagangan dan Pelaburan (JTIC)

Abdullah bersama Susilo menyaksikan MoU penubuhan Jawatankuasa Bersama Perdagangan dan Pelaburan (JTIC) yang ditandatangani oleh Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz dan Menteri Perdagangan Indonesia, Dr Mari Elka Pangestu di Putrajaya

Untuk mengenal pasti dan menangani masalah yang timbul di antara kedua-dua negara bagi memastikan keakraban sekarang terus terjalin.
Tujuh wakil dari setiap negara dalam bidang ekonomi, kebudayaan dan agama. Antara tugas mereka ialah memantau, mencari penyelesaian dan memberi pandangan untuk disampaikan kepada kerajaan masing-masing supaya dapat menentukan apa yang perlu dilaksana atau diselesaikan.

Kerja sama erat dalam bidang ekonomi dan pertumbuhan pesat perdagangan antara kedua-dua negara yang menjangkau AS$10 bilion (RM35 bilion) tahun lalu selain pelaburan Malaysia yang mencecah sebanyak AS$1 bilion (RM3.5 bilion)

AirAsia

AirAsia has carried over 40 million passengers and has grown from a two-aircraft fleet to 65. It also has the most extensive low-cost network in the region serving on over 86 routes.

175 Airbus A320s were ordered and would be delivered by 2013.

Asean Open Sky Policy comes into effect in January 2009


AirAsia is also looking to launch more air routes to destinations in Indonesia and to operate an air route to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

AirAsia Bhd, which is scheduled to operate the KL-S’pore route from Feb 1
is expected would soon be allowed to fly from other cities such as Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, to Singapore.

KL-Singapore route

Under a newly liberalised air pact, the Malaysia-Singapore Air Services Agreement had agreed to open the route to low-cost carriers which has been dominated by Singapore Airlines Ltd (SIA) and Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS).

Singapore’s Transport Ministry awarded Jetstar Asia and Tiger Airways the right to operate daily flights to KL beginning Feb 1, with AirAsia also serving on one of the most lucrative routes in the region due to frequent business travels between the two countries.

The air pact with Australia allows carriers such as Qantas Airways, Jetstar Australia and Virgin Blue to carry passengers between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur under a condition where its point of origin has to be in Australia upon request from any Australian carriers

Jetstar Asia, 51% owned by Singaporean investors including Temasek Holdings
