The 26th ASEAN Summit takes place on Apr 27 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the resort island of Langkawi, with leaders from the 10-member grouping are expected to take stock of the progress of the ASEAN Community 2015 road map.

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/asean-community-at-the/1806598.html

It is hoped that by the end of this year, ASEAN Community 2015 will no longer be a slogan, but a reality the region will need to embrace.

It is an ambitious plan, covering three pillars - the ASEAN Economic Community, Political-Security Community and Socio-Cultural Community.
Economic integration has been a key focus over the years - analysts say while the ASEAN Economic Community targets have been set, the question is whether members can meet them.
They added that it is not just about elimination of tariffs, but removing non-tariff barriers as well. These include things like infrastructure, communication lines and even the quality of manpower.

Economic integration will thus be at the forefront of Malaysia’s chairmanship in 2015. Leaders will take take stock of the 2015 blueprint, which is about 85 per cent complete.
Malaysia will also help conclude negotiations on a Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which will be the world's largest free trade agreement - grouping ASEAN, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand. It is also due for completion by end-2015.

ASEAN Community 2015 is not a destination but the start of a long journey at creating a truly integrated region.
Also on the agenda during the leader's summit are discussions on the way forward for ASEAN post-2015.
As Malaysia’s chairmanship in 2015, I would proposed a progressive Asean Citizenship, whereby all Malaysian, and Asean's countries of lesser population be granted citizenship of Asean, while selected member of Asean's country with large population, be progressively given the citizenship, to lesser the impact  of intermigration, and flooding of cheap labour across the border.

or each and every Asean country to form 1% of of their population from their counterpart country, that is 9% of their population from fellow Asean country.
The ACT proposal says that a common time would be a historic milestone in Asean regional cooperation, comparable to Asean's decision to adopt English as its official working language.

Indonesia’s President-elect Joko Widodo high-powered transition team

Indonesia’s President-elect Joko Widodo has appointed a high-powered transition team to devise a list of programs his administration could implement..

1. Rini Sumarno, head
A personal confidant of former president Megawati Sukarnoputri, who now chairs the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) that backed Mr. Widodo’s candidacy.  Ms. Sumarno – whose father was a Cabinet member under Sukarno, Indonesia’s founding president and Mrs. Sukarnoputri’s father – served as minister of trade and industry during Ms. Sukarnoputri’s presidency in the early 2000s. The 56-year-old U.S.-educated technocrat previously held a senior position at the now-defunct Indonesian Banking Restructuring Agency at the height of 1997-98 Asian financial crisis. Outside of public office, Ms. Sumarno was the chief executive of Astra International, an Indonesian conglomerate with interests in consumer goods, automobiles, mining and financial services.
2. Anies Baswedan, deputy
The 45-year-old rector of Paramadina University gained a widespread following among Indonesian youth after he initiated a program called Indonesia Mengajar (Teaching Indonesia), which deploys young graduates to remote locations to teach elementary school. He was further propelled into the national spotlight after becoming Mr. Widodo’s campaign spokesperson. He holds a doctorate in philosophy from Northern Illinois University.
3. Andi Widjajanto, deputy
An international relations lecturer at the University of Indonesia, Mr. Widjajanto is a PDI-P member and was part of Mr. Widodo’s advisory team during the recent campaign. The 42-year-old military expert, whose late father was a senior PDI-P member and advisor to Mrs. Sukarnoputri, is well-regarded among military personnel and activists in the country. He holds two master’s degrees, one from Washington’s National Defense University and the other from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences.
4. Hasto Kristiyanto, deputy
A past member of Parliament from 2004 to 2009, Mr. Kristiyanto, 48, is currently the vice secretary general of PDI-P and a confidant of Mrs. Sukarnoputri. During his time as a lawmaker, he strongly opposed increasing food imports, arguing that the government should extend assistance to farmers instead by helping them increase their yields and streamline a supply chain that has caused local goods to be pricier than imported ones.
5. Akbar Faizal, deputy
A former legislator from the Hanura party, 45-year-old Mr. Faizal swapped allegiances last year and is now a senior official with Nasdem, one of the parties supporting Mr. Widodo’s presidential bid. The former journalist caught public attention when he pushed for a Parliamentary inquiry into corruption allegations surrounding the bailout of a small bank back in 2008. The legal proceedings in the case are ongoing, with the country’s anti-corruption court last month sentencing a former senior central banker to 10 years in jail.

Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa

Prabowo has spoken about the targeted fuel subsidy, to ensure that even if there are still subsidies, they should be targeted to those who really need it.

Given that Indonesian fossil fuel reserves will be depleted in a few years time, Prabowo would like to see renewable and other alternative energy such as geothermal, hydropower and biofuel be developed more vigorously. He proposed that huge areas that have suffered massive deforestation should be developed for biofuel development.

Prabowo proposing to increase the budget for agriculture to 10 percent of the total from current 3 percent.

The manifesto rejects privatization of state-owned enterprises, reject trade liberalization and is in favor of more protection in trade policies.

The Jokowi-Kalla platform

The Jokowi-Kalla plan to open 1 million hectares of new rice fields outside Java and build new irrigation networks for 3 million ha of rice fields between 2014 and 2019.

Their plan to increase research and development in agriculture   because the key to agricultural productivity is high-yield seeds that can be developed only through research.

In the energy sector, the pair’s policies of prioritizing the use of natural gas and coal for electric power and strengthening incentives, legal certainty and regulatory body in the petroleum industry.

The promotion of gas utilization through the building of more pipelines   with the operation of two floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) north off West Java and in Lampung, respectively, and the third FSRU in Arun, next year. FSRUs enable the shipment of liquified natural gas (LNG) from Papua and Bontang, East Kalimantan, and even LNG imports from other countries to users in Java and Sumatra.

The Jokowi-Kalla plan to build 2,000 kilometers of roads, 10 airports, 10 ports and 5,000 traditional markets within the next five years. This addresses one of the most pressing problems eroding Indonesia’s economic competitiveness: poor infrastructure. Inadequate infrastructure has hindered connectivity within the country and has made Indonesian logistics costs among the highest in ASEAN.

The plan to develop 10 new industrial estates complete with low-cost housing for workers will accelerate new investment in the manufacturing sector. Developed industrial estates will make Indonesia more attractive to investors often frustrated with the poor access to ports and the arduous, punitively costly process of land acquisition. Expediting the titling of 9 million ha of farmland could be the spark that triggers long awaited land reform across the country.
